Property: Relatively stable in neutral, weakly acidic and weakly alkaline media. Hydrolysed by strong acids(pH 1) and alkalis (pH 13) to the herbicidally-inactive 6-hydroxy. Solubility in water 200 mg/l(20C), in acetone 610, methanol 510, toluene 470, n-hexane 12, n-octanol 220(all in g/l,25C).
Uses: Ametryn is a herbicide which inhibits photosynthesis and other enzymatic processes. It is used to control broadleaf weeds and annual grasses in pineapple, sugarcane and bananas. It is used on corn and potato crops for general weed control. It is also used as a vine desiccant on dry beans and potatoes.
